Catching up on NADA 2017 with Impel CEO Devin Daly

This week, the annual NADA 2017 Convention & Expo is kicking off in New Orleans, and Impel is very excited to be attending for the 3rd year in a row. As we join the other attendees in soaking up the New Orleans culture, we are just as excited to visit world’s largest international gathering of franchised new-vehicle dealers to learn and discuss the latest and greatest trends in the automotive industry.

Impel’s first show was in San Francisco, which is one of my favorite cities around the globe. Not only do I love the food, but it’s obviously a bastion of technology. Moreover, we had fantastic 75-degree weather in January. A lot of attendees complained about the show being spread across multiple buildings, but I loved it. It gave us a chance to get outside and enjoy the weather, something we hadn’t been able to do for months in NYC. This year, we are excited to join the other attendees that are enjoying the New Orleans culture.

Better than a vacation
NADA is a trip that our team very much looks forward to. In fact, I tell a lot of people that NADA is better than any vacation I’ve been on. I’m a very Type-A personality, so after a couple of days of vacation, I become incredibly restless and can’t wait to get back to work. NADA offers such a winning mix of business and fun; it’s hard to beat. You work hard, accomplish a lot, and generate a ton of business; then you get to enjoy great food/parties with those with whom you work so hard. It’s a fantastic dichotomy that I think is tough to beat. In addition to enjoying a new city, I look forward to seeing and catching up with old friends/colleagues. As many readers know, trade shows provide an excellent chance to periodically get together with people that you typically just exchange emails and phone calls with.

To me, another highlight of NADA is the fascinating combination of speaking sessions that are a mix of old-school car guys and new-school digital thought leaders. The car business requires a head for both and I think they do a great job ensuring both are covered and I am very excited to see what NADA 2017 has to offer.

A special VIP opportunity
Impel will be at booth #5615, and we’re offering a fantastic VIP opportunity only for those in attendance at the convention. Stop by our booth to receive a complimentary 2016 Year-end Google Analytics Review which is valued at $499. This will be a 30-minute one-on-one session with the head of Impel’s GA Department, Arthur Dessein. We offer this deal because we believe it’s incredibly important for dealers to take control of site traffic by better understanding Google Analytics, and therefore better understanding your customers.

Why you should stop by Impel booth #5615
I believe that conference attendees should stop by our booth because we are the fastest-growing company in automotive, so if a dealer hasn’t seen our core product, they should stop by and see it ASAP. We also have a bunch of new features/additional products we’re announcing here which we’ve been testing for the last few months and are excited to roll out, including some fantastic VR tech.

Also, when you stop by the Impel booth #5615 at NADA 2017, you get the chance to see up close and in person why dealerships like Lessord Chrysler, who learned how to put their customers directly into the driver’s seat, have seen incredible success with Impel. Or, the BMW Store/Cincinnati Mini, whose recent adoption of Impel has taken its digital marketing presence to the next level. These are just two examples of the many dealerships that have taken advantage of Impel’s technology.

My recommendation for first-time attendees?
Hydrate! No – I’m only kidding. I think first-time attendees have to make an attempt to see it all. Hopefully, they allotted enough time on their itineraries and aren’t just coming in and turning right back around. I think the sessions have a ton of value, but I think dealers need not be hesitant to engage with vendors on the exhibit hall floor – that’s what they’re at the show for after all, right?

Above anything else, enjoy! As I said, I look forward to this week every year. A lot of people don’t realize that NADA is the 2nd largest tradeshow in North America behind CES. It’s a fantastic production.

See you all soon!

Sincerely,

Devin Daly, Co-founder & CEO
